The Beginning

Hello World!

I am a writer.  Or, rather, I strive to be a writer.  I've been writing poems and stories for years and years but i just haven't been lucky enough or ambitious enough to obtain publication.  Several of my friends have suggested starting a blog.  To which I have always flinched away from.  It's a scary thing to put yourself out there.  While i love my writing and find joy and entertainment in the imaginative things I contrive it is terrifying to share them.  When you share things then those things are suddenly open to criticism.  People can be cruel and mean and it's frightening to me.
True, there will be those that have negative opinions and will find fault and point out all the petty little flaws.  That's human nature and it will happen.  But there are also those that might find enjoyment in the things I've written.  There are those that will appreciate the hours I've invested and perhaps there might even be those that find the same enjoyment and happiness that I have found.  It is the purpose of my writings... to share a few moments of joy.  I hope this is your experience when you read my poems and stories.
Some of them are silly and superficial.. but some of them are the deepest most intimate insights into my soul and inner workings of my being.  I hope you can find something to appreciate in all of them.
My goal is to post a poem or story or part of a story each week.  I will try to post something new each day but life happens.  I do have a full time job and I am very involved with my family and friends and if i promise something every day and then am unable to fulfill that promise then I will feel like I have failed and that will never do.  This blog is meant to allow myself to express myself and share the precious words that I've hoarded for so long.
